Golf

Golf is a sport that can be played together by people of all ages and abilities and from 2020 will once again be played at the Olympics. It can be played at social, competitive, amateur or professional levels, with other people in a group or on your own. It can be a great way of meeting new people, for families to participate in a sport together and also for getting out in the fresh air!

England Golf Staffordshire brings together the three county-level golf associations (the Staffordshire Ladies County Golf Association, the Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs and the Staffordshire PGA), creating one voice towards developing the future of golf in Staffordshire. It brings national initiatives and resources to the county to lead where necessary and bolster the efforts of the individual associations, clubs and facilities.

The core objectives are as follows:

  • To promote the game of golf and increase people’s awareness of golf in the county of Staffordshire.
  • To attract people to the sport of golf irrespective of ability, age, gender or race.
  • To assist golf clubs to increase membership and the number of people playing golf in Staffordshire.
  • To facilitate links between golf clubs and the world of education to enable golf to become a core sport in schools.
  • To undertake the training of volunteers and coaches.
  • To ensure the continuity of standards and good practice within the golf club network.
  • To work closely with both county and national partner members.
  • To seek funding from available sources to finance these objectives.

Friendship, fresh air and exercise, golf has is all…

At England Golf, we truly believe that this is a game for everyone. That’s why we’ve launched Get into Golf. We want to inspire more people to give it a go and enjoy golf by offering low-cost or free beginner activities at clubs across England. Once you try golf we think you’ll want to learn more. We’ve created three types of activity so everyone of any ability has a place to start. Taster Sessions are ideal for those who have never swung a club before. Beginner Courses start teaching key skills and Improver Courses get people ready to step out on the course.

Get into Golf is making a difference. In the last four years over 180,000 people have taken part in activities and more than 22,000 have joined golf clubs. Over 700 clubs in England now offer Get into Golf activities. If your local club doesn’t have any activities on offer then get in touch with them. They’ll probably have some kind of beginner activity available.

This website is where it all starts. It’s a place for beginners and improvers to find and easily book activities across the country.

We’re ready when you are. Everyone’s welcome, so let’s Get into Golf together.

Golf clubs, ranges, centres and other facilities wanting to be part of Get into Golf and upload their activities should email us at info@getintogolf.org. Alternatively contact your local Club Support Officer for help.
