SASSOT Updates

Director Update

As April approaches my focus is very much around the transition of SASSOT (from an organisation hosted by Stafford Borough council) to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

You may have read in previous blogs, the Board took this decision to enable us to become a more progressive, agile and financially-stable organisation.

From the beginning of this process we were very clear that our partners and stakeholders should be at the heart of what we do; as such we undertook a public vote to help us reach a decision on our new name. The poll received hundreds of votes and (after a nervous few weeks!) the landslide winner was Together Active! An excellent choice and one which describes perfectly the continued focus of our work: “creating active places and healthy lives through sport and physical activity”.

To help guide us through this new venture, we are currently recruiting for Two new Together Active Trustees. We are particularly looking for applicants with strengths in commercial innovation and income generation, or charity finance and financial risk management. If you’re interested or know anyone who might, please check out the advert here.

Finally, Ben Hollands has recently accepted a role with Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust; many of you will have worked with Ben over the years and I’m sure you’ll agree he has played a significant role in SASSOT’s success, so thank you Ben and very best of luck in your new role!
