Tuesday 26th February 2019

Keele University is one of 10 universities to be awarded the Physical Activity Excellence Award by BUCS. Following the launch of the BUCS Physical Activity Excellence Award, BUCS celebrates the best practice from the 10 universities who were successful in attaining the Kite Mark in 2018.

Award Background

The kite mark award gives institutions the opportunity to be recognised for their efforts towards creating an active campus, where students and staff have the support and opportunities to live an active lifestyle, with a focus on reducing boundaries.

The award focuses on four main areas of evidencing and showing impact of, Strategy and Planning, Insight and Research, Partnerships and Collaboration and Implementation and Delivery. To assess these BUCS outsourced the assessment of the award to external provider Leisurenet.

The main focus of the report is to highlight existing good practice in providing physical activity opportunities and evidence the impact of increasing physical activity in HE Sport whilst also inspiring HE institutions to increase their physical activity offer.
