Cheslyn Hay Tennis Charity Marathon
The team at Cheslyn Hay Tennis served up a winning combination to raise money for new indoor courts.
Joining Davis and Fed Cup players, including Marcus Willis and Lucie Ahl, they travelled to the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton, to play in a 24-hour tennis event.
The 24-hour marathon event was run by Sapsford’s Bright Ideas for Tennis, which is aimed at raising funds to improve facilities at community tennis clubs.
The Cheslyn Hay team of Jayne Ball, Lombe Mwansa, Ben Smith, Nick Plant, James Clark, Kim Williams, Claire Bailey and Thom Lilley performed brilliantly with numerous long rallies with GB international players.
“It was a wonderful experience to play with, and against, such talented and well-known players, and to raise money for our club at the same time. All the team had a brilliant day and will never forget it,” Perrin said.
Cheslyn Hay are using the event to raise funds for an Indoor Tennis Bubble to allow Tennis to be played all-year round for community usage at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre.
“The fundraising will help us to create a new facility to a enhance a community focused club. Through being able to play all year round, this will attract more beginners to join us and try the sport and increase the number of competitive players enjoying the game.”
A singles based tie-break 10s competition for adults of all abilities has been organised for Thursday 14th March from 6:30pm-8:30pm with all entry fees of £5 going towards the overall fundraising total.
The Community Venue would be grateful to any local businesses or individuals who would like to support the bubble development and other community events.
